Founding story
When Davit used to work at Twilio, he constantly experienced background noise during meetings. He wondered whether machine learning could solve this problem.
He mentioned this idea to Arto, a long-time friend, who happened to be looking for an interesting scientific problem to solve. Arto invited Stepan Sargsyan, Krisp’s Chief Scientist, to join the research team—and they began their journey.
Between the two, they had a background in physics, a Ph.D. in math, and several scientific publications, but no experience in machine learning or digital signal processing (the process of analyzing and modifying a signal to optimize or improve its efficiency or performance).
The team began digging into machine learning and after 6 months of hard work, developed the first prototype of their noise-cancellation technology. Although it was far from being perfect, it was a completely new direction in noise cancellation with enormous potential.
When Arto got back to Davit with the first iteration of the noise-cancellation technology, he was impressed and intrigued.
Davit left Twilio in 2017 and together with Arto they founded Krisp (formerly named 2Hz) with the goal of creating AI-powered, revolutionary voice technologies that will enable people to be more effective communicators.
