Visualize Your Ideal Day<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m going to let you in on a productivity and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">time management<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> secret that I should have used much, much earlier:<\/span><b> if it\u2019s not on my calendar, it doesn\u2019t get done. No exceptions.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And this even includes meeting friends, chatting with my parents or even something as trivial as doing my laundry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve never been a calendar fanatic, but recently I started scheduling my days in advance since I started <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/managing-remote-workers-ultimate-toolkit\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">managing multiple projects<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in tandem and also realizing that adding to-dos to my calendar also helps preserve my sanity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5674 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Screen-Shot-2020-02-21-at-8.11.24-AM.png\" alt=\"time blocking calendar\" width=\"2276\" height=\"1540\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scheduling your tasks in your calendar has a psychological effect: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you\u2019re less likely to let somebody else\u2019s priorities or <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/types-of-procrastination\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">your own procrastination<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> affect your productivity.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My color-coding strategy isn\u2019t about me being cute. Blue events are all things <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.venngage.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venngage<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the red events are my personal\/non-work tasks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ever since I\u2019ve defaulted to using Google Calendar, I\u2019ve found it easier to stick to my schedule without exerting much willpower.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re not a fan of calendars and how clunky they can get, you don\u2019t need to use them. Getting In Your Flow<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The invention of the internet, email, social networks, slack, etc. has allowed us access to the world, its information and allowed us to work from anywhere in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfortunately, this has also given the world access to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">us<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Misusing these tools can prevent us from getting into a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">flow state<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To get in your flow, when working from home (or remotely), it\u2019s important to identify internal and external interruptions and deal with them appropriately &#8212; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">especially because time without focused attention is meaningless.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which is why over the last year, I\u2019ve spent a lot of time reducing my reliance on always being connected, limited my outbound communication and identified tools to help me get more done.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"become-harder-to-reach\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a. Become Harder to Reach<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you take away anything from this post at all, optimizing how you use your smartphone could perhaps be the best productivity principle you could apply in your life right now.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or for lack of a better phrase, \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">get a <a href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/remote-work-distraction-tips\/\">distraction-free<\/a> phone.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are tons of posts on how to limit your smartphone usage but let me share a couple of neat tricks I\u2019ve personally employed:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turn off notifications for all apps (except transit, ride-hailing or maps apps)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Organize apps into folders to make accessing them easier<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Delete any apps you haven\u2019t used since last week<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use social media on your browser, instead of their apps<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5678 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG_C33FCA8CE25D-1-208x450.jpeg\" alt=\"phone screen\" width=\"208\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is what my smartphone looks like. Three things to note:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Only 1 row of apps; less is more.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similar apps neatly organized in folders.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All notifications turned off.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smartphones and apps are engineered to be addictive, and the onus is on you to use your\u00a0 smartphone as a tool and prevent <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">collaboration overload<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from distracting you from your work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The point I\u2019m stressing on is this: <\/span><b>people, sports scores and your colleagues can wait. But work doesn\u2019t.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Possessing a smartphone doesn\u2019t make it okay for anybody else to expect a response from you within the same minute or even the same day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If it helps, you can find some solace in the fact that almost nothing is ever <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> urgent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Becoming harder to reach allows the world limited access to you and, by extension, allows you to go really deep in whatever it is you\u2019re trying to do, be it working on a client proposal or exploring the next city on your nomadic journey.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"no-emails-in-the-morning\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">b. No Emails In The Morning<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sending emails first thing in the morning<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you should probably rethink how you spend that time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let me explain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first few hours of waking up is the time when you\u2019re at the peak of your powers. Which is why using these hours to answer some emails is probably the worst use of your time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; height: 0; padding-bottom: 56%; position: relative;\"><iframe class=\"giphy-embed\" style=\"position: absolute;\" title=\"Working quickly\" src=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/RRerwvHrb0nxm\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve been guilty of this in the past (I\u2019m still susceptible to emailing first thing), but when you\u2019re at your most mentally alert, use this time to make progress on your most important tasks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And yes, reading email newsletters and answering personal emails takes up a lot of attention. Attention that could be better spent elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The takeaway? <\/span><b>Set a clear agenda, identify the most important task you need to work on, and work on it first thing in the morning.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you glanced at my calendar above, writing this post for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Krisp<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is my most important task for this week, which is why I\u2019ve scheduled it first thing every morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"use-productivity-tools-to-your-advantage\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">c. Use Productivity Tools To Your Advantage<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can be the hardest worker in the room. But someone with access to the right tools will still manage to get more done than you do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which is why I\u2019m bullish on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/remote-team-tools-for-productivity\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">productivity tools.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The right combination of these tools will comprise what is called a \u201cproductivity stack.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So here are some software-based tools in my productivity stack:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Superhuman for email<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Calendar<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for managing my day-to-day<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trello<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for project management<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Krisp<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for crystal-clear conference calls<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AnyDo for jotting down to-dos and ideas<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Paperform<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">schedule appointments<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I use <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Superhuman<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for email. It\u2019s expensive, but I\u2019ve been able to hit inbox zero every single day with some of its features like: reminders, scheduled messages, split-inboxes, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And with the nature of my job, I spend ~20% of my week in email, so it\u2019s important to have the right tool to make sending emails snappier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This investment has granted me an additional 2-3 hours every week. Time I can spend doing more high impact things at work, hitting the gym or even enjoying life outside work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5684\" src=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Optimized-Screen-Shot-2020-02-19-at-3.09.42-PM-2.jpg\" alt=\"clear mind\" width=\"1200\" height=\"750\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A clear inbox = A clear mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When it comes to my hardware tools, I keep it fairly simple:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Macbook Air 2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beats Studio 3 ANC headphones.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A great laptop that doesn\u2019t slow down is something you should definitely invest in. Even a Windows laptop works as long as it has powerful specs for the kind of work you do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And if you love working from cafes and want something to drown out the background noise, don\u2019t forget to get yourself <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/3-over-ear-noise-cancelling-headphones\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a pair of noise cancelling headphones<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to make it that much easier for you to get in the zone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your goal is to get the best results (and not the cheapest results), spend the money and initial setup time to pick your productivity stack and then stick to it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"the-rule-of-3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. The Rule of 3<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rule of 3<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is better known as a writing framework, it works well even in the realm of productivity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a productivity principle, you can use the rule of 3 to establish the 3 most important tasks you want to get done on any given day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the start of every day (or after work the day before), choose 3 key things you wish to accomplish. These are the most important tasks you need to get done every day. Everything else comes second.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To really take this principle further, you have to first identify what\u2019s worth doing, what\u2019s not, and how to be effective at working on your important tasks.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"do-the-hardest-task-first\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a. Do The Hardest Task First<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After you identify your 3 most important tasks for each day, the next step is picking the most important task of them all. And then doing this task first thing in the morning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or for lack of a better term, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201ceat that frog.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5677 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/eat-that-frog-2.png.jpeg\" alt=\"eat that frog\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Source: Monday.com<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As I quipped above, if you can get this task done before you check your emails or engage in social media banter, you probably can call it a day well spent (even if you do nothing else that day).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For me, writing is something I need a lot of energy for, a sharp mind and a huge chunk of time. And I have all 3 between the hours of 8 a.m. &#8211; 12 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is when I do the bulk of my writing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Setting agendas is hard, even more so for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/best-tools-remote-work\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">remote workers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. But if you can identify your most important task and do it first thing in the AM, you can drastically enhance your output and build the momentum that will carry you through the rest of the day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"build-a-not-to-do-list\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">b. Build a Not-To-Do List<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t get me wrong, to-do lists are great, and I still use them to quickly jot down tasks and ideas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5673 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Screen-Shot-2020-02-21-at-12.27.32-PM.png\" alt=\"not to do list\" width=\"1250\" height=\"857\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AnyDo for Desktop<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But to-do lists often end up being a laundry list of stuff other people want you to do mixed with some of your own tasks (if you\u2019re lucky.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To separate the \u201cshould dos\u201d from the \u201ccould dos,\u201d making a not-to-do list is something you should do on a regular basis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To really identify what\u2019s important to you, identifying what\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not important<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is useful as a process of elimination to determine whether you\u2019re doing what <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> want or what others want you to do.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5672 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/to-do-list.png\" alt=\"to do list\" width=\"1250\" height=\"890\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Source: the1thing.com<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This way, the focus is on what needs to get done while you can delegate or even ignore stuff that\u2019s either not urgent or important.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"say-no-to-multitasking\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">c. Say No To Multitasking<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIf you chase 2 rabbits, you will not catch either one.\u201d &#8212; Russian Proverb<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5676 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/myth-of-multitasking.png\" alt=\"multitasking myth\" width=\"1389\" height=\"1181\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Source: jamesclear.com<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remote workers are especially susceptible to multi-tasking due to a lack of goal setting, operating with little to no structure and a plethora of distractions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But you already know what I\u2019m going to say: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/remote-work-distraction-tips\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multi-tasking is frankly overrated<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you continually switch between tasks, your work takes ~50% longer to complete, compared with doing one task from start to finish and could <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lower your productivity by as much as 40%<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When we fail to focus on only \u201cone\u201d thing at a time, we instead focus on only the \u201chighlights\u201d of what we\u2019re doing and later forget how we spent our time in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5671 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/tot_interruptions.png\" alt=\"interrupted workflow\" width=\"762\" height=\"488\" srcset=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/tot_interruptions.png 762w, https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/tot_interruptions-300x192.png 300w, https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/tot_interruptions-380x243.png 380w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 762px) 100vw, 762px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Source: the1thing.com<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So if you want to achieve <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/productive-remote-work-lifestyle\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">peak levels of productivity<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, start approaching your work with a \u201cone step\u201d at a time mindset.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A good rule to keep in mind is to stick to the rule of 3. Pick 3 important tasks you want to get done and work on them individually from start to finish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"80\/20-everything\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. 80\/20 Everything<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 80\/20 principle is a framework I regularly apply both at work and outside it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In simple terms, the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">80\/20 principle<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is all about identifying 20% of the actions that drive 80% of the results. Think about it. Why work harder when you can get the same results (if not better) by doing less?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifying tasks that help you achieve 80% of your goals is another great productivity principle to help you prioritize the work you do.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"less-is-more\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a. Less is More<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Going back to my comment about inbox zero, having a clear desktop is going to help you achieve mental clarity and massive gains in your overall productivity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And, here\u2019s how I apply it specifically to my remote work productivity:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5683\" src=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Optimized-Screen-Shot-2020-02-19-at-11.24.27-AM-2.jpg\" alt=\"productivity principle\" width=\"1200\" height=\"750\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At any time, I have only 1-2 working files on my desktop, which I will eventually move to Google Drive after I\u2019m done with the project. This way, I\u2019m able to multiple projects with relative ease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I also have no files on my laptop (barring important documents), while I move tasks on my to Trello after I process them (you can use a tool like <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ClickUp<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to have your to-dos and tasks all in one place, if that\u2019s better.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The same thing applies to the dock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trello, Superhuman and Safari are really all I need day-to-day. The rest isn\u2019t something I use daily, so they don\u2019t get a cut off from the dock.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The result?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A clean laptop that isn\u2019t mentally taxing to look at and allows me to focus only on what matters most. This prevents information overload, which can stifle clear thought.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Digital minimalism is your secret weapon when it comes to producing consistently, especially when working remotely.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"do-regular-life-audits\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">b. Do Regular Life Audits<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve started conducting regular life audits since early 2019. This comes as a precaution to my incessant habit of eating more than I can chew (or my FOMO), as well as my inability sometimes just saying no.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; height: 0; padding-bottom: 82%; position: relative;\"><iframe class=\"giphy-embed\" style=\"position: absolute;\" title=\"Steve Carell No\" src=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/NTddjTZTeOmXK\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Auditing your life every 3-6 months to identify where you\u2019re spending your time, whether it aligns with your goals, both personal and professional, is an exercise I highly recommend you carry out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I spend ~1-2 hours every 3 months reviewing what I did, whether I\u2019m on track to hitting my goals or if I need to cut down on any commitments that are irrelevant to my goals or personal productivity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A good framework to help you better evaluate your commitments is what Derek Sivers calls <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHELL YEAH! Or \u201cno.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201dIf anything is not a \u201cHELL YEAH!\u201d it\u2019s most definitely a \u201cno.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is your calendar filled with a majority of \u201cHELL YEAH!\u201d or a bunch of \u201cno-nos\u201d? Auditing your life is the only way to find out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"bringing-it-all-together\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bringing It All Together<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remote work is no doubt the future of work, granting you the flexibility of working from wherever and at the time of your choice.
